HIIT sessions to keep you and your family healthy during lockdown
Please allow us a moment to thank everyone for your support during this situation – we’ve been blown away by your kind words 🤍
By supporting Typhoon now, you’re helping to ensure there are lessons to come back to.
There may be other online alternatives being offered by famous celebrities – but those alternatives won’t be trying or wanting to provide you with swimming and tennis lessons once lockdown is over, watching our videos is the online equivalent to shopping locally, so thank you to everyone who has agreed to keep fit with #TeamTyphoon
HIIT Benefits
HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training. It is a form of exercise that alternates short period of intense anaerobic exercise with a period of rest/active recovery.
Our HIIT sessions will take the format of 12 minute sessions (plus a warm up and cool down) with 20 seconds of hard work and 10 seconds of rest.
Benefits of HIIT training over low intensity long duration exercise are:
- Burn a lot of calories in a short amount of time
- You get what is called an ‘after burn’ where your metabolic rate increases for up to 24 hours afterwards
- Great for fat lass
- Muscle building
- Reduce heart rate and blood pressure
Don’t forget to hydrate!
Drinking enough water is extremely important for many reasons but after a HIIT session when your metabolic rate has gone in to overdrive it’s even more crucial. Drinking water will help to remove toxins built up in your muscles from the vigorous session, but it will also help you to regulate your body temperature, keep your joints lubricated, prevent infections and deliver important nutrients to your cells.
